Over the years I was fortunate enough to have the likes of Bucky Pizzarelli, Warren Vache & Jeannie Bryson with Coleman Mellet on guitar. Jeannie's stylings & Coleman guitar filled the room with sounds of yesteryear. Coleman was one of the sweetest, kindest gentleman you ever wanted to meet.
On the February Coleman was scheduled to play for The Rutgers Club Valentine's Night. However Coleman called me a week before our event & said he had a scheduling conflict & that he had to play in Buffalo for Chuck Mangione, that Chuck's band was his "Bread & Butter". Of course Coleman wasn't the type to leave one of his customer twisting in the wind so he sent someone in his place. When I heard the news that night that Coleman was on the flight to Buffalo I was devastated. I'll always have the memories of Jeannie & Coleman performances as will anyone that was fortunate enough to be at The Club when they played.
Not only did the world loose a great musician, husband & father but we lost most importantly a Prince of a guy.
